HONGKONG AIRPORT DIVISION

Avionics commenced Operations in Hong Kong in late 2020, being
engaged to supply and install the entire Aeronautical Ground
Lighting System Infrastructure for the new 3rd Parallel Runway at
Chek Lap Kok Airport (3RS Project).

The 3RS project is more than a new runway.

Its scale is almost equivalent to building a new airport next to the existing one. It involves:

The 3RS Project required the supply and installation of 7,700 12” diameter FAA MultiSection Cannisters and the installation of over 110kms of conduit connecting the runway, taxiway and apron lighting systems.

• Reclamation of approximately 650 hectares of land north of the existing airport island (equivalent to 34 Victoria Parks, or 100 artificial islands for the New Wing of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre). Non-dredge methods, including deep cement mixing technique will be used for reclamation.

• Building a 3,800-meter-long new runway and its supporting taxiway systems. The existing north runway will also be reconfigured. • Expansion of the existing Terminal 2 to provide arrivals, departures and full-fledged passenger services.

• Expansion of Existing North Runway to the Central Runway, including new taxiways, aprons and lengthening of existing runway pavements and lighting systems. • Construction of other associated airport support infrastructure, road network and transportation facilities. Upon the completion of the 3RS, HKIA will be able to serve 30 million additional passengers annually as forecasted in the HKIA Master Plan 2030.

AGL SUPPLY

The above sequence of photographs shows the bonding strength of Weber Tec Grout. A standard 8” diameter shallow base has been installed in asphalt pavement using Weber Tec Grout. Using a jack, a pole is attached to the lid of the base and after 5.9 Tonnes of force is applied to the jack, the surrounding pavement cracks and fails before the base is pulled away from the Weber Tec product. Contact Avionics for more information on this product.
